Nepali Currency: Nepali Rupees are found in denominations of 1000, 500, 250, 100, 50, 25, 20, 10, 5, 2 and 1. Coins are found in denominations of 10, 25 and 50 paisa. One rupee equals 100 paisa.
Exchange Rates: Exchange rates can be found in most of the daily news papers. You can exchange money in the banks, hotels or licensed money changers but it is advised that you shop around for the best rates. You can also draw money with your credit/debit cards but do check with your bank first.
Note: Nepali currency is pegged to Indian Rupee and 100 Indian Rupees = 160 Nepali Rupees. Indian currency is accepted by most vendors and easy to convert in Nepal but it illegal to bring 500 or 1000 Indian Rupee notes into the country.
