Ganden to Samye Trek

This short Ganden to Samye trek is one of the most popular trek in Tibet and links two of the Tibet's most important monasteries Ganden and Samye. The trek takes you to beautiful lakes, alpine forests and meadows, as well as two centres of Tibetan religious culture. Ganden to Samye trek involves crossing Shuga la pass at 5250m and Chitu la pass at 5100m. It is a strenous trek but the rewards are worth the effort. The trek starts from the famous Ganden monastery some 50 km from Lhasa and pass through many small villages, sheep herder's camps and ends in the Samye monastery in Yarlung valley. Like all our treks and tours in Tibet, it starts after we explore the heritage sights in Lhasa. The best time for this trek is from May to October. Summer will at times be wet but it will be warmer and the mountians will be clearer and the alpine meadows full of wild flowers.

Day 01- Arrive at Kathmandu airport and transfer to hotel.

Day 03 - Fly to Lhasa and transfer to hotel, Free rest of the day.
Day 04 - Lhasa City sightseeing, visit Potola Palace & Jokhang Temple.
Day 05 - Lhasa City sightseeing, visit Drepung, Sera Monasteries.
Day 06 - Lhasa / Ganden Monastery(60km, 2hrs drive). Visit Ganden monastery and sarounding area. O/N Ganden.
Day 07 - Ganden / Hepu / Yama Do, trekking 5-6 hours.
Day 08 - Yama Do / Tsotup Chu Valley / Chitul Gang, trekking 5-7hours,
Day 09 - Chitul Gang / Herders' Camps, trekking 5 hours,
Day 10 - Herders' Camps / Yarmalung / Samye Monastery / Tsedang , 4-5 hours trekking
Day 11 - Tsedang[3,515m], Tsedang is the ancient capital of Tibet prior to Lhasa and fertile valley of Yarlung is the cradle of Tibetan civilization.
Day 12 - Tsedang to the Lhasa airport (2hrs drive) and fly to Kathmandu.
Day 13 - Final departure transfer to airport.
