Mardi Himal Trek offers an opportunity to escape the Annapurna Region's tourist trails and venture into the deep forests and high alpine pastures at the base of Machhapuchhare Himal (the famous Fish Tail Mountain). There are very basic tea houses or lodges therefore this is a camping trek. After a short drive to Phedi from Pokhara, you climb steeply up to Dhampus. From here the trail follows a ridge covered with enchanted forest of birch, giant rhododendron, mountain oak and maple trees. You will encounter breathtaking views of the Annapurna and Machhapuchhare ranges and valleys. As we climb higher, the flora and fauna change until we come to an excellent alpine camp site at Guhe. From here you can do a day trip to Mardi Himal base camp experiencing excellent views of Annapurna I and the south face of Machhapuchhare.
The return journey to Pokhara is down the Mardi river valley, along the terraced fields and past idyllic Nepali country side..
