Also known as Tent Peak because of its shape, Tharpu Chuli is situated near Annapurna Base Camp at an altitude of 5663m. The base of this peak is a short walk through the stunningly beautiful Annapurna Sanctuary. It is part of the ridge that extends south from Glacier Dome and includes another attractive and higher 6501m Singu Chuli or Fluted Peak peak directly above it. The normal route to the summit is relatively easy but there is another challenging climb for those wanting to test their skills. This peak is not as high as other trekking peaks but the summit offers superb view of Annapurna I, Annapurna south, Annapurna III, Annapurna V, Machhapuchhare (Fish tail), Hiunchuli, Singu Chuli and Gangapurna.
This is an excellent start to the climbing career of any budding mountaineer and equally for trekkers wishing to add an extra challenge to the most popular Annapurna Base Camp trek.
